 Our Students Are Our Lifeblood

St. Peter’s Seminary’s primary mission is to form servant-leaders: priests , deacons and lay persons who are self-giving and life-giving.

For over 97 years, St. Peter’s Seminary has been committed to fulfilling this mission through the educational and formational programs it offers.

Students have always been the lifeblood of the community and the Seminary’s raison d’être. It’s not surprising then that the educational program focuses on the students so that they may be both well-educated and well-disposed to serve in love and compassion.

St. Peter’s Seminary recognizes that the programs of formation for priesthood and lay leadership must center on the development of the total person – human, intellectual, spiritual and pastoral. The integration and harmonization of the formative aspects of the program are particular strengths of the institution.

St. Peter’s Seminary provides tremendous value to its students, guiding them to be effective models and leaders in the Church.

Principles

  1. Within the Seminary community, the formation faculty, mandated by the bishop, strives to model Our Vision, to make it incarnate by leadership and example.
  2. As a Seminary community, we strive to pass on what we have received, proclaiming Christ through the living tradition of the Church and fostering a Eucharistic vision of community. In this context, the preparation for priesthood and lay leadership focuses on the development of the total person – human, intellectual, spiritual and pastoral.
  3. The formation for pastoral service acknowledges interdependence. We, the Seminary community, willingly cooperate with others in fulfilling our Vision and Mission. In openness to the world, we strive to be faithful to the Church’s preferential option for the poor.
