St. Peter's Seminary Foundation
Founded in 2003, St, Peter's Seminary Foundation is an incorporated, charitable foundation, the sole purpose of which is to support the mission of St. Peter’s Seminary through fundraising. The Foundation ensures that its fundraising activities provide a balance of funds to sustain and enhance the current activities of the Seminary, while also seeking to ensure sustained future support by building a strong endowment program.
Mandate/Role of the Foundation
To develop, execute and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan that will include:
- Annual appeal program
- Planned giving component
- Major gift program
- Special projects and proposal writing
- Fundraising response to capital planning needs
- Comprehensive stewardship and recognition for donors, alumni and volunteers
- Comprehensive cultivation program
- Strategies that connect with the marketing and communications strategies of St. Peter’s Seminary
- Special events, programs and ceremonies
- Stewardship of student awards and endowed funds
Objectives of the Foundation
- Fundraise for current expenditures and to build a strong endowment for the future
- Respect and safeguard donors’ intentions
- Ensure fiscal management and accountability of endowed funds
- Develop appropriate investment policies to manage the growth of endowments
- Provide clear policy direction and support to the staff of the Foundation
- Support strategies that will encourage a culture of giving
- Promote and enhance a lifelong relationship with the St. Peter’s community, through focussed and engaging events and programs, characterized by creativity, cost efficiency and opportunities for learning
- Ensure that honesty, openness, mutual respect, accountability and trust will characterize all of our actions
- Enable continuous improvement, creativity, and persistence in marketing of St. Peter’s Seminary to the community at large
Overarching Strategies of the Foundation
- Create a long term culture of giving to support the initiatives of St. Peter’s Seminary
- Ensure a balance of fundraising for both current expenditures and building the endowment for the future
- Increase significantly individual giving through a strong annual appeal program
- Provide the highest level of accountability and stewardship to donors
- Engage a significant volunteer force to represent St. Peter’s Seminary
- Liaize with other community organizations to increase the Seminary’s profile in the community
- Connect with the marketing and communications strategies of St. Peter’s Seminary to ensure a consistent message that mirrors the case statement for support.
- Ensure strategies are in place for long term cultivation of major gift prospects
