Equipping the Saints for Ministry

Past workshop participants have said:

“It was very good to hear that we are in many ways headed down the path that will benefit those in the future, building intentional disciples and for today, respecting everyone both from a personnel perspective and parishioner.”

“We need more of this! Effective communication is so important to ministry. Very helpful insights as to how others might pick up on comments made, etc.”

“Extremely helpful and needed in our present working situation. Well done. Would attend any further seminars on this topic.”

“Going forward in Families, we need lots more of this!”

Evangelization in the Life of the Parish

This three-day intensive prepares parish pastoral teams and other leaders in ministry for developing a commitment to evangelization as an essential part of the life and culture of a parish community. Beginning with critically considering ways to define evangelization, and working from a common understanding of it, sessions will consider: the encounter with Jesus Christ as foundational, the Holy Spirit as the primary agent of evangelization, the process of conversion and commitment to discipleship, the relationship of evangelization to other areas of parish ministry, and application in our varied parish communities. Lectures (to be recorded on video for future online and face-to-face offerings of this unit) will be supported by pre-reading, facilitated group discussions, personal reflection, prayer and social time together.

Key Presenter:  Michael Dopp, of Mission of the Redeemer Ministries in Ottawa, whom some of our diocese will remember from the New Evangelization Summit.

Unity in Cultural Diversity in the Parish

This one-day workshop, developed for parish pastoral teams and other leaders in ministry, examines the multicultural dimensions of parish ministry, and collaboration among varied cultural communities in parishes. We will look at culture as an essential aspect of mission, learn from those with experience ministering in culturally diverse communities, gain skills for reaching out and seeking mutual understanding, and consider what it means to develop working relationships between different cultural communities in families of parishes.
