Permanent Diaconate Program

Only two components of the Permanent Diaconate Program will be offered in 2022 - 2023:
The Aspirant Year
The Aspirant Year: The Aspirant Year will consist of three days of Prayer & Discernment to be held on a Saturday in September, 2022; a Saturday in January, 2023; and a Saturday in June, 2023.
Topics to be covered:
- Looking at the Tools which will be used for Discernment
- Discernment with the Church, spouse and family.
- Setting goals and objectives for the Permanent Diaconate Program
Year IV – Pastoral Ministry
Permanent Diaconate Year IV: Year IV will examine all aspects of Parish Ministry including such topics as Homiletics, Liturgical Ministry, The Deacon and Canon Law, Bioethics, Reconciliation Service, the Psalms and Music, and Canon Law and Marriage.
Offered 2023 - 2024
Only the Year I components of the Permanent Diaconate Program will be offered in 2023 - 2024.
Year I – Theological Foundations
Permanent Diaconate Year I: Year I will examine Theological Foundations. The Year I Program will take place one weekend per month from September 2023 to June 2024.
Future Offerings
Year II – Sacred Scripture, The Church and Grace and Speech works will be offered in 2024– 2025
Permanent Diaconate Year II: Year II will examine Sacred Scripture, The Church and Grace and develop Presentation Skills. The Year II Program will take place one weekend per month from September 2024 to June 2025.
Year III components – Foundations for Ministry will be offered in 2025 - 2026
Permanent Diaconate Year III: Year III will examine Foundations for Ministry including such topics as Homiletics, Liturgical Ministry, The Deacon and Canon Law, Bioethics, Reconciliation Service, the Psalms and Music, and Canon Law and Marriage. (2025 – 2026)
